In these pics I want to show some details of sardinian T. hermanni:

1. Unusual shell’s graduatet shading
2. Sottogular black bands
3. Unusual plastron’s coloring
4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Others sardinian T.hermanni.

  1. Wonderful specimens Vale: as you told me they’re very light colored except for the first one young male: it looks really unusual, but it has the light patch on the top of V1, and a quite round front-edge of V2. I think this last character become more evident in adult and old animals!

I note that not all of your tortoises have the “mushroom cloud” on V5 and an orizontal (or double) black patch on V1 even I can well identify these specimens as sardinian ones… I realy need to work more and more on my “Colpo d’occhio drawings”.

Your pics suggest me to add asymmetric black patches on the top front marginals: I find that in sardinian Thh they’ve quite always this gradient diagonal shape!!!

  2. I have a baby hermanni of 2008 that are almost entirely black, but maybe I don’t have its pics in the pc. We have to waiting for spring.

  3. Hi Vale, thanks for these pics.
What size( length and weight) are your sardinian adults ?

  4. The size of female is 18-22 cm, and the size of males is 13-16.

  5. OK, thanks Vale.
